NPD: Butler Tube Driver

I've wanted one of these for the longest time but never got around to it.
BK made me a 230v one with Bias control.

Needs a bit of volume to really get going but it is a great tone.
Definitely better with single coils than humbuckers.

I've had them side by side and they are similar but not the same.
The real pedal is thicker and fuzzier with the same settings.
There is also much more bottom end from the real pedal.

You can get closer by boosting the bass in the model but it still is not the same.
So close, but not close enough for me.

I'm building a pedalboard to put side by side with the Helix that will have things on it that I don't want to use within the Helix.
What is going on there is a volume pedal, a wah, a Whammy V and the Tube Driver.
That way I can keep the Helix' expression pedal for effects wet/dry level.

You've got it set spot on mate. I had one several years ago (should never have got rid). Hi and Lo right down and then volume and gain to taste, really sick boost, nothing comes close.

Get a CV4003 Mullard and put it in it. You will thank me.

Can't go wrong. Always been a dream pedal for me but ran out of space so got a td-x instead.

@octatonic I had wanted one when I found out Andy Timmons uses/used one. The sound he got using the humbucker into the Lonestar was incredible.

What amp are you running it into?

Is the TC Electronic Tube Pilot a copy of this pedal? The demos I've heard of that sound incredible for a budget pedal (and yet I wasn't as impressed by their phaser from that line).

which demos - most of what I've heard have been mediocre at best ...

Got one of these, thinking of selling it. Great unique pedal, but simply don't use it.

Massive amounts of volume, huge range on the tone pots.

Strangely the 60 Cycle Hum demo - I like Ryan and his videos but he doesn't always get sounds I'd like as he favours the surf sounds, but it sounded incredible in his demo.
