I don’t think it’s worth anyones time to make one from scratch, it’s easier to stick a Fender badge on a Squier.

There is/was the Fender Modern Player range that are Chinese built (maybe by the same people who make Chinese Squiers?). I've got a Modern Player Jazzmaster and one of my mayes has a Modern Player Tele Thinline. They're pretty damn good guitars for the money, £378 when bought new.

Yeah, there were tons of Chenders floating about a while ago. Mainly fake Custom Shop style Strats and most looked like some tarted up Encore shit.
