I'm building a cajon for my wife who plans to do a percussion course next year.

The build was very straightforward (easier than a guitar  ). Now I have to round off the edges and tru-oil it.

I forgot to take photos of the build process, but here's one through the sound hole.

Following the (very good) instructions, the snare was pressed so tight against the front of the box that it made no sound, but releasing the screws slightly fixed that.

Finished with two coats of True-Oil.
