Gibson 330 vs Epi Casino

I’ve got a lovely old ‘64 330 that is a dream to play. I’ve never figured out what makes it feel so ‘slinky’ and was wondering if it’s down to trapeze tailpiece as you have the extended string length beyond the bridge. Could this be a contributing factor to its fantastic feel?

If so I was wondering if a (modern) Epiphone Casino would have a similar kind of feel? It’d be handy to have a similar feelings and sounding guitar as a knockabout that wouldn’t give me great palpatations any time I took it out for jams etc

I’m intrigued by the Coupe model in particular. Would love to hear your experienced opinions. Anyone own a 330 and a modern Casino?

 I have a vintage 330 and a Chinese Casino. The Gibson is sexier but honestly there's not that much between them.

My experience of these Chinese Epiphones is that if you find the right one (and quality was very inconsistent when I got mine in 2010) they can be great VFM and an excellent giggable substitute for a 330.

I did change the pickups in mine.

I was thinking I would do the same and swap out the PUPs, but as much the sound I was wondering if the geek can get close. I’ll look up the specs on Neck radius, profile and which fret it joins the body etc

Also would the Coupe be less prone to feedback as it has the smaller body?

Why not just look for one of the special editions that include the Gibson pickups, switchcraft switch and jack etc.

e.g. Gary Clark Jr, 50th Anniversary, IBJL, Elitist
