New guitar and stainless steel refret day

What's Hot

I've had this guitar for a while but when it arrived there were pretty much no frets left and it wouldn't stay in tune.
I was going to return it, but then I decided to go all out and get pink Paf Pros and a stainless steel refret with 6000 size wire.

All work was carried out by Shane Haigh String Surgeon at Horbury Bridge and he did an amazing job.
This is the second ss refret I've had from him and it's so good I've decided to slowly get all my guitars done.

That guitar is hideous beyond belief, but SS frets are brilliant :)

I've never tried SS frets, what are they like? I fancy having my Les Paul done to get rid of the nibs.

They're very smooth, and so feel great on bends. Other than that in my 5 or 6 years experience I'd say they're exactly the same as normal frets. They still wear but at a very slow rate. I've needed one fret level in 5 years, whereas with nickel steel I'll need one after 6 months.

    Loving that 80s special there!

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Only Kidding, nice Job. Shane is a good guy, isn't he. I'm glad someone else has put a good word in for him, he did my re-fret, very knowledgeable chap.

He's been doing my guitars for about 9 years now and I'd never use anyone else. Every time I go I end up there for an hour or 2 talking about guitars and being shown what he's working on. I'm surprised he has any time to do the work haha.

    Awesome tasteless guitar.

It's the complete opposite of what I like, but I still think it's cool :)
