Clean preamp pedal into power amp?

Hi folks!
Have a VW Royal Overdrive incomjng and also have a fryette powerstation and a couple of cabs... just wondering has anybody used a clean preamp pexal in such a setup (VW for dirt, clean pedal always in)??
Ive owned a Kingsley before and loved it so maybe one of his smaller pedals?
Any advice folks?
