OK I'll get the ball rolling.  The scores from the Bristol jury are:

5 points - @stratman3142 : splendid widdle ending, made me smile
    3 points - @Bellycaster : classy and smooth
    1 point - @fastonebaz : totally unashamed rawk!

@flying_pie ... great playing man but the glitching didn't do it for me I'm afraid.  Likewise @Markv ... the playing was great but the sound went through me a bit, I guess that's the speed up done that.

Good round though chaps, nice playing there!

  • All entries much appreciated. My votes are

5 points: @Bellycaster : the sound and style fitted the backing best for me
    3 points @fastonebaz : crazycrazycrazy. Shredding insanity

A difficult call for third between @markv and @Bezzer ;. On balance I decided to go for
1 point : @markv : there just seemed to be a bit more melody

@flying_pie needs a category of his own for that aural (pun intended) experience. Unfortunately it appears that someone has worn out the best bits of the tape.

    It's not a competition.

Hmmm, I did vote but apparently my post needs reviewing (no idea why).  If it doesn't turn up by the end of the day I'll do it again.

  • 5 points @Bellycaster ;- for me the best fitting approach for the track
3 points @fastonebaz ;- if you're going to go for a crazy shred approach then best go balls deep
    1 point @stratman3142 ;- pure quality

Thanks once more for organising all this stratman. Great playing all round

Really liked them all so picking was quite a tough choice but for me:

    5 points - @Bellycaster
    3 points - @fastonebaz
1 point - @Bezzer ; (but it was so close with
@stratman3142 it could have gone either way)

@flying_pie ... Honorable mention as I loved the whole concept.  :)

Thanks all for sharing your work.

  • Some novel ideas on this one. Well done all round.

5 Points @stratman3142 - Fitted the best, nice bluesy groove to it and some cool legato passages.

3 Points @Bezzer - Loved the Tone (Strat Neck Pick Up?). Some serious "Balls Out" fret burning there.

1 Point @fastonebaz - Tough to put it third, such a wild idea, I really liked it.

    Well done for the Pornfest by @flying_pie and I did like that sped up idea too by @markv ;

    1 point @stratman3142 awesome precision

The vhs track  glitched my brain I couldn't cope with it.

Just a reminder that the following styles are lined up for future SotM challenges

    1) An odd time signature
As requested by @fastonebaz in the thread below (post dated September 23)

You might regret this one. It's going to be in 13/8

    2) Reggae style
As requested from @Bellycaster in the thread below (post dated October 1)

Feel free to suggest other styles that might promote more entries. Or provide a backing track if you want to and send it to solos@theFB.co.uk

    It's not a competition.

5 points @flying_pie - an amusing concept and great playing to support it. I thought the glitching was a bit over the top but I still enjoyed it.
3 points @Bezzer - enjoyed the tone and accomplished playing
1 point @fastonebaz - kitchen sink shredding, great fun

    Well done all round.

We had a reggae style back in SotM #3 which I enjoyed very much, looking forward to that. Not so sure about the 13/8 time though!
