PSA Marshall Origin Amps cheap

All origin amps seem to be discounted by 1/3 or more at Fair Deal music.

Just picked up a 50 head for £369, thats a chunk less than they seem to go for used!

@davros - cheers for the heads up - me too! They are silly prices... maybe B stockers?? Anyway, I softened the rather unexpected blow by taking advantage of their 0% over 18 months as £18.20 a month won't hurt.

Well @57Deluxe has made a strong case for me to also pull the trigger. Been looking at these for a while and couldn't say no at that price. Thanks for the heads up guys.

I noticed peach have them reduced too. Clearing out stock maybe?

I just received mine and am totally blown away - this is an awful lot of amp for just £369. They still seem to have them for sale at this price too.

I plugged it into a Zilla 2x12 with creamback 65s and I thought it sounded fantastic. It does need the master volume above half-way, but above that with the gain at between 12 and 3 o'clock it is really punchy with all the barky marshall sound I love from my Ampmaker P1800 (which I'm too scared to gig as I built it!)

Then...I realised i had it on the 'Low' 0.5 watt setting.

'Medium' 10 watt setting was a revelation

'High' 50 watt is ridiculously loud - I'd be scared to put this through a 4x12 with Vintage 30s, but if clean headroom is what you're after, it can certainly deliver at volume.

I'm looking forward to trying this with the band, but at the moment I could well be selling my Friedman Runt 20, which cost 4 times as much!

Yes my 50h came yesterday too but am a little unsure why @davros paid £369 for his from Fair Deal whilst I only paid £364 ??

Really nice piece of classic Marshall kit this.

Ah, it was £364! Either way a bargain!

Planning to find out which of my OD pedals works the best with it today. Got a feeling that I wont be able to crank it enough at small gigs to get enough amp OD.

Will report back on the findings!

The 20 head seems to be down to £249 and the 20 combo down to £299 at a number of retailers like guitar guitar and andertons. Quite a big discount- will be picking up a 20 for sure.

edit- they now seem to have gone up again to normal retail price. Maybe they jumped the gun on a upcoming sale.

I was in Fair Deal last week, first time I've been since they moved into new premises. Much, much nicer shop. There were a couple of things I looked at that I googled later and found them to be lowest price on. I wasn't particularly expecting that. They had some horrendous staff so I avoided them for years but may be the place to go locally now ( for my annual packet of strings...).
