What a great drummer Clem Burke was... he drove those 45's along, Dreaming, Union City Blue etc.
How is it even possible you’d notice the drummer?
    Visual impairment?
Assume that can result from noticing her to much, that and baldness...

I was 13 in 1979 and defended Debbies Honour against some Madness fans who insisted she was a slag. I wasnt having it. She wasnt a slag. (Even though i didnt know what a slag was)." Suggs is knob who cant sing, The Specials are well better "etc etc. "You dont know what your talking about! She was a bunny girl slag" etc etc ..Broke my little heart that did.
"Dont take any notice Debs! I still luvs yeah".

Ah, those were the days ... Blondie on TotP, the two lasses from Mind Your Language and checking out the 'glamour tutorial' in my mate's dad's Amateur Photographer magazine. Simpler times.

My Dad stockpiled his old Photo mags in the shed (in B&W days) and thus became a great place to pitch up with mates in the school hols when raining - sitting on the garden furniture frantically thumbing for tits!

    Different strokes, as they say

But I know what you mean. I'd have pushed Blondie out of the way to get that blonde in Man About the House.

How to get a lot of middle aged men overexcited.
Wish I was middle aged. I'd give anything to be that young again.

Since I forgot to say it before and no-one else has... she's still the best female pop-rock singer ever. She had everything - the voice, the looks, the attitude, the right band, great songs, and perfect timing for when the band made it, even though she was too old by most music-industry standards.

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein

  • I don't have anything constructive to add but I've enjoyed this thread immensely. Blondie as a band were superb and DH was probably the first woman on TV that made me look up from my BBC computer and make my jaw drop.

The line in Picture This -  ' Picture this , my telephone number' filled the teenage me with all sorts of exciting thoughts. Just Imagine DH giving you her phone number !  Swoon indeed :-)

Blondie's pretty much another Kylie in my book, love her to death until she starts singing.

When I was a punk, Blondie were the pop group that it was ok to like.

I still have the sheet music for Picture This, which featured this cover pic. Imagine its effect on an impressionable 17-year-old:

makes sense, they were basically a glossed up NY punk band.

Saw them in London when they were promoting Parallel Lines (Hammersmith Odeon?). In concert they had more the vibe of a jazz band with quite lengthy pauses between numbers. No 'pop' performance, no stage posturing, just faithful renditions of the album. Got the feeling they were already bored with being pop stars.
