Lol stop shouting at clouds, Prime is 7.99 a month for free films music books, and usually next day delivery, netflix is the same for one service.
Its christmas, so will be stretched, they're not magic, plus if they get something wrong they always partially refund or sort it.

Op your complaining about Amazon but its the drivers fault, if i go to see a band and the door staff are shit do i go directly to the band and blame them?

Im in no way a big corporation fan, but you should remember what it was like before amazon, infact use ebay solely for what you would use Amazon for and I bet you would come back crying within a week.

Can I point out that lockers aren’t the only option for collection. You could have your order delivered to a local post office.

Yep.  More drivers needed in order to provide the service we're paying for, then. :)

Or there’s plenty of newsagents/small supermarket shops that also offer a collection point if you search through the options.

With so many comparison web sites out there, how do I choose the best one?

It'll get really nasty once they've eradicated the competition (speaking as a Prime delivery addict)

Haha, me too.  Where else am I going to order a pneumatic nail gun attachment for my compressor, some G4 low-voltage halogen bulbs, and a knockoff power supply for a ten-year-old laptop?  At quarter past eleven at night?

You ain't going to get the last ten items on my Previous Orders page in any high street.

I freely admit to being part of the problem.  I try and balance it out by using my local shops wherever possible, but all told it's probably pissing in the wind.

Re: my post above.  I kid ye not, my Mrs has just had a 'Come back to Prime' 30 Day Free Trial letter and credit card thingy sent through the post!

The auto-renewal notice is down there in the small print.

Been using a local Amazon Locker for the past 6 months and it’s been great.

Had my first problem on Monday when the Locker was full and has been full up until last night.

Has Amazon outgrown itself? Almost certainly not. There appears to be no end to its expansion. Something like half of all e-commerce turnover, similar share of the cloud market, high sales of all their proprietary devices (Kindle, Dot, Fire Sticks, etc) which are designed to lock even further in to their platform, products and services. Aggressive takeovers of competitors, and disruption of the market. What next? Amazon public transport services?

So maybe not outgrown itself, but definitely outgrown the rest of us... I try very hard not to buy from them, but it's difficult to avoid - they are synonymous with online retail...

We’ve just had one of those credit card thingies, each. I think we both signed up in error, and realising our mistake, immediately cancelled.
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

They appear to have dodged the problems that Tesco ran into at the end of the 00's.  At one point we (the British public) were spending one pound in every eight (I think?) with them but they overcooked it and had to row it back quite substantially.

Amazon just seem to keep on growing.

I'm having triple heart bypass surgery performed by Amazon. Hope I don't get the same numpty cutting me open.

  • I stopped using them a few years ago as I don't like their business ethics or how they treat their staff.

  • I use the locker pickup thing from them regularly, a couple of times they've cocked up deliveries, once it went to another location 2 miles away, and I had to get it resent. The other time (or a few) they've attempted a weekend delivery and as they tend to leave my drop til last the lockers are closed by 6pm that day meaning it never gets delivered.

Every time they ignore my preferred location and deliver somewhere stupid, I kick off and usually get a partial or full refund. Got a full refund on a £99 gaming headset because they "delivered" it (threw it through the open bathroom window of the maisonette behind mine, thinking it was my house) rather than use the preferred location. The headset turned up a few days later when the guy got back from holiday. Similarly, full refund (and told to keep/dispose) on aftershave that had been left behind a wheelie bin and a couple of slugs were on the cardboard box.
Amazon are great here, but we’ve had the same regular delivery guy for the last couple of years. The only time I’ve ever had problems was at Xmas when they take on drivers who are worse than trained chimps.

The bathroom window comment reminded me of our new postie. I got to the door a bit late after he’d ring the bell and caught him about to lob my parcel through an open window. First he asked “is that window always open, I could use that instead of the letterbox” Err, yeah, what a great idea....and of course I’m going to tell you how to burgle my house mate. He went off the idea when I pointed out that it was the downstairs toilet. Pillock.

I've never used them because I don't like the way they undercut the specialist sellers and small businesses.
I'm also not crazy about huge corporations treating their workers like shit.

Still drive down to PMT for my pedals, quicker than next day delivery :-)

  • They are not going anywhere.

In any case the shopping side only makes a limited amount of Amazon profit , the Web Services side makes the lions share and they are growing exponentially with about 80% market share of cloud at the moment.
