What type pedal to buy for present?

What's Hot
MashaMasha Frets: 1
Hey guys

Could really do with some pedal help.

I’m looking for a pedal for a present. My pedal knowledge is limited so here’s birthday boy’s current pedalboard:

Polara reverb

super phaser ph-2

digital delay dd6

The Electro Harmonix Neo Clone

Big Muff Pi Fuzz

GE‑7 Equalizer

Marshall JH‑1 Jackhammer

Rat 2 Classic Distortion

chromatic tuner tu-3

Donner Noise Killer

Volume pedal (not sure what model)

Is there anything you would recommend he doesn’t already have? Or (much) better models of existing kit? I know the volume pedal is old and clunky so wondering if it’s one thing to buy?

Any help would be appreciated :)

A boost/tone enhancer like an Xotic EP Boost might be good but otherwise, he's pretty well covered.
    Oh, I can't see a Wah.

  • Maybe the actual board itself? If he has it all on a tea tray or an old piece of wood you could look at a pedaltrain. Maybe try and sneak a photo and upload it.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

A looper is a great suggestion & will work for whatever style of music birthday boy is into.

+1 for the TC Electronic Ditto Looper.
Bought a looper for my nephew's birthday this year and was a real hit

Seems to be lacking something in the chorus  department - how about MXR micro chorus?

Also, you haven't mentioned any kind of power supply (it could well be hidden underneath the board). If he's currently powering his pedals by battery then a power supply would be the perfect pressie.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

You can never have too many overdrives and treble boosts.

  • How's it all powered? Maybe a really good isolated power supply will bring out the best of what he's got. .

Or, for something less practical but more 'fun', a looper (as mentiond above) is a game-changer for playing/practicing at home.

Depends what budget you have. Higher end, MERIS are unique pedals, especially Enzo. Crazy pedal is the Miku Stomp as mentioned, although not for everyone. Look at Rainger FX stuff, he does some unique things...and maybe a Univibe? MXR. Dr Scientist Bit Quest is ace, got one of those myself.

A decent power supply if he doesn’t have one. It sounds dull, but a power supply is not something you end up not really liking but can’t sell because it was a present.

Looper or Wah is my vote. Both fun and great gifts for any guitarist.
