Today I got my old 1992 Yamaha RGX 121D back from being re-finished by the genius that is lamf68 on here.
From this, with several dings that don"t show in the pictures

To this orange sparkle.
It is more orange"y in real life & there is a very fine "sparkle" or glitter in the finish. I don"t know why the colour & sparkle don"t show in the pics, either down to my phone camera or the light I suppose?

I can"t thank Rich enough for his fantastic work & very reasonable price. He even swapped the pups for me to save me doing it when I got the guitar back.

I've just sent him my tele so good to see you're happy with it!  I love the colour.

Photos come out much better taken outside, bright lights behind the object put it in the shade and require a flash, a flash on a reflective object at close range isn't good, lighting is always an overlooked issue, but you can use poor lighting to your advantage.

Nice guitar though, I like orange guitars, and green ones.

I will try & get a couple of better pics, when we have a dry bright day, but it does look superb.
The Entwistle pups that are now in it are absolutely fantastic for the money.

  • Sweeeet!

Is that the original bridge? I've got a battered old RGX121D. I oiled the neck and I love it, but never went the extra mile to do it up properly. Would be nice if there was a sustain block that fitted, I haven't really looked into it though.

@bluechargeboy No I replaced the bridge & fitted a steel sustain block. I"ll see if I can find some links for what I fitted, straight swap.
    This was the bridge,

both from Black Dog but it looks like they don"t have the block in stock.

Both were under £20 each. The steel sustain block has made quite a difference compared to the stock zinc block.

It looks superb in the pics you posted, is that the same colour they use on the new Range Rovers?

  • That looks great! Rich has got my Performance at the moment, doing it the same colour as your guitar. I can't wait to get it back :)

I just asked for basically the same colour as LAMF68 did John_A"s Washburn in.
This is what my guitars colour would like in better lighting but with slightly less glitter/sparkle

If it's not too impertinent a question, what was the cost?

I was wondering this myself. If it's something you'd rather not disclose publicly but you don't mind sharing privately, please drop me a PM :+1:
