    That was confusing.

  • Jeez that’s impressive. The drummer at the start of the second song - beautiful stuff. Not sure it’s my cup of tea but enjoyed watching.

I think I might kind of like it, but I'm not sure. Confusing indeed.

  • Did anyone notice the Strat type guitar?  It had no bridge pickup, but a neck/middle - not a combination I've seen before. Nice Telemaster as well.

I enjoyed watching, it was interesting but I didn't really form much of a connection to the music (which is said as someone who identifies as a fan of the genre), but I have great respect to the musicians for what they were doing though.  They reminded me a bit of Deerhoof.

Btw, who'd ever want to be a math rock drummer?  There have some been absolute legends in recent times and great respect to anyone who's brave enough to do so!

My thoughts exactly @Megii. Incredibly impressive stuff but so different it almost feels alien.

Can't stand the vocals, quite liked the instrumentation.

In a way the lack of a consistent time feel seems to free things up, but in another way it's perhaps a bit contrived - so I'm not sure about that one. And I wish I knew what they were singing about, that would maybe help. I don't come away remembering any kind of melody, which is sort of a minus for me. But on the other hand melody isn't everything, and there are forms of music that are more about other things. It is definitely impressive technically, and I find it intriguing - I guess I'll say I like it. :D

I liked it. Never heard of Math Rock, I think it should be called ProgPop.

  • I found the music interesting. My problem is that I think Japanese is a terrible language to sing many kinds of music in, and this is one of them. It may help if you don't understand what they're singing about, as you can just treat it as an instrument with unusual rhythmic properties, but I don't have that luxury. It's also a problem that most Japanese lyrics are banal, and I didn't hear any exceptions here.

I had a similar difficulty with a band called Noshinto that I saw live last weekend. Completely bonkers, very entertaining... except for the vocals.

The off-key singing is ruining some good prog
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

Biffy crossed with Prefab Sprout played by 4 Japanese girls, what’s not to like? (apart from the singing)

All of that... apart from the Japanese girls bit.

I always hear traces of The Cardiacs and King Crimson tbh but it’s bloody catchy and one of the most interesting things I’ve heard this year
