2019 New Year Resolutions

What's Hot
RolandRoland Frets: 8701
What have you decided to change in 2019? Not Guitars or Gear, we’ve got a thread for them here. What are you going to do differently in 2019?

Myself, I don’t pin life changes to the start of the year. When I gave up cheese it was a case of “I wonder if I’m dairy intolerant?”, and a few days later it had become a life fixture. However I do use the opportunity to ask questions like “which friends do we want to visit this year?” and “what changes do we want to make around the house?”

So we’ve got a few doors and windows which need replacing, a bathroom to renovate, after which my wife will want to replace some carpets.

Not post on here ... bye.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

I don't make resolutions lightly new year or otherwise as I can't break them, hence I don't take sugar in tea which meant me quitting tea as years later I've never got used to the taste.

On on the plus side I still don't have Facebook as I vowed not too and I still have never been to Nando's. !

    That’s one I’m seriously considering....

  • Classic - going to lose weight.

My mood and self-care levels have improved, and I feel confident I can do it. I'm right back into photography again, and my beautiful xt2 comes with me everywhere. So I'd like to finish my 100 strangers portrait project (over a year since I last touched it, only got up to 14 I think...)

And to move out of my parents and in with my girlfriend. We'd like to buy, but if we can't afford it we will likely rent for a year or so while continuing to save.

    All achievable goals

I don't do "resolutions" so much as targets.
    2017- run 1000000m
    2018- do yoga/stretch every day.
    2019- get creative..

I write kids stories for fun. As I’m not enjoying my “real” job I intend to see if I can’t put the wee folder of stories and ideas to use.

The plan is to write and develop one a month. My brother has offered to illustrate for me if I get the text sorted.

  • This year has shown me a side of me that needs developing more.

    Be better with others...

  • Mine are more goals or aims than resolutions but I'm going try my hardest to make the following happen in 2019

    • Lose around 3 stone and start exercising again - I want to be running 5km 2 or 3 times a week in 6 months and be working towards 10k runs by the end of next year.
    • Take more care over my finances and really start building up a deposit for a house (I'm looking to buy the house I currently rent)
    • Finish off changing the back bedroom into an office/studio
    • A few musical goal - start learning piano, improve my theory knowledge, do lots of ear training/transcribing, start a new band (or replace a few members of the current band), start writing and recording again

After the worst week of my life, bar none, my New Years resolution - as hackneyed as it sounds - will be to never take life for granted and to hold my remaining loved ones that little bit closer, as you never know when they will be snatched away.

Doesn’t sound good. Sending good thoughts your way mate :-(

Seems trivial in comparison, but I only have one real goal next year; complete Iron Man Copenhagen under the cut-off time.

The one I try to stick to these days is -

    Follow  through.
It (whatever it is) will only happen if you follow through. :)

  • I always feel really motivated at this time of year to make some changes in my life.
I often manage to see them through too.

I started making a list yesterday, and it's looking a bit long:

    1. Get fit again - bike, swim, yoga, strength
    2. Almost zero social media - once per day scan max, occasional posts
    3. See friends frequently - instead of social media
    4. Just Do things - DIY, days out, hobbies etc.
    5. Play more guitar and sing
    6. read work related books

I am almost certainly going to buy a new house.

It's a bit reliant on finding a house I like enough.

    Try to drink more water.
That's a good one. I never drank just water and that possibly contributed to the stroke I had in August. Certainly can't hurt to drink plain water.
