He's around the same age as EVH or the Edge, he just markets it in a spirit of irony. 

As an arthritic 54 year old I'm more impressed by his hand stamina than his golfer's look.

Possibly one of the worst band names ever. Although memorable I guess...

Going forward Mr Spankey and The Hip-replacements might be more appropriate.

What's not to like, they're playing music and having fun?

Having said that, being mid 50's myself, I changed musical direction a bit as I couldn't see pulling off the rock moves into my old age, so that was a (small) part of me getting more into jazz and jazzier stuff.  But when you get a bit older, you realise that the best you can hope for it to have a bit of fun if you've not already achieved rock legend status. 

There are some guys near me who are probably even older than the guitarist in the video above, and they rock out and have fun, and the audience responds very well to them.  They play well, but do it all with a sense of fun / irony, with the singer telling jokes and stories between songs and taking the piss generally.

Good for them!
