Def Leppard's first album On Through The Night, by far their best to my ears. Hungry, punchy, and Steve Clark (RIP). (not Pete Willis, sorry my error pleased you're still with us Pete!).

Whitesnakes slip of the tongue was one of my favourite albums for years.. there is a live set with Vai where they play most of that album.. had me totally mesmerised..

Someone said Cryptic Writings by Megadeth earlier.. Trust was one of those songs that i became obsessed with in my yoof. Also the picking pattern of she wolf really developed my rhythm playing.

Steve Clark is RIP. Wonder if that's the source of confusion.

  • Hats by The Blue Nile, at the time it came out everybody I knew hated it and I became evangelical about it's quality, no doubt boring my friends rigid. Since then I've met a lot of people with similar good taste : >

Mick Hucknall - Tribute to Bobby.

Bet I don't find many takers for that on here.

    The Faust Tapes.
Most people can't stand it.. but I love it.
Saw them live in Southampton back in 1973 supported by Henry Cow... which was an experience!
My mate shouted to HC: "You're rubbish".. to which they responded: "Well at least we're English rubbish!"  :)

    Surreal is an understatement:

    Yes, love Faust :)

    Cluster - Zuckerzeit

    Tortoise - 1st album

Julia Holter - Have you in my wilderness

  • The Julia Holter is terrific! It was Mojo album of the year IIRC so not sure that nobody likes it :)

  • Afghan Whigs, all albums... I literally do not know anyone that like The Afghan Whigs.. I have plenty of friends with similar taste in music but none of them like them and most say what a pile of rubbish they are :(

I feel the need to add 'Pop Trash' by Duran Duran as well. The last original thing they did before becoming a cabaret act. Not sure what's with the 'middle to late period Duran Duran' phase.
I quite liked Astronaut, and to a lesser extent Red Carpet Massacre. I haven't got either of the last two because I have a severe allergy to anything Mark Ronson has ever produced... apart from the recent Miley Cyrus single :).

I don’t tend to listen to any Eric Clapton, but I really like Behind the Sun, which isn’t universally acknowledged as his best work by others.

One of my favourite EC albums - it contains some some of his best ever playing. It’s also the last ‘Blackie’ album before switching to signature Strats.

    Counterparts by Rush.

It always seems to be overlooked by critics, almost an afterthought in their discography that's quickly passed over like it's some kind of embarrassment that's never talked about.
