Advice on spraying

Hi,

The son of a friend has made a guitar, primed the body, and sprayed it red, and is asking for advice about the top coat as he wants a "glossy finish" (I'm not sure what sort of paint he's used for the red).

Can anyone offer advice, or links to any guides on general finishing, eg. what materials to use, the process, etc?

Thanks!

R.

^ that is meant to be top coat, and glossy. I.e. not needing a lacquer or whatever.

They don't make it easy to track down the data but if it dries quickly it might be a 1k acrylic. In which case a Halfords clearcoat spray can would work fine - but as I say that is a topcoat and is a gloss one.
And it depends why it isn't glossy already, what it's been sprayed like, etc.

But if it's a synth enamel the Halfords/1k is no good, don't try it. Enamels don't usually buff because of their physical structure and how they cure. You get the gloss by laying it down well.
