Laney IRT-X

Is anyone using a Laney IRT-X as an frfr speaker with their modeller?

It has a speaker emulation which can either be set to off, 1x12 or 4x12. Obviously this should be unneccesary as the modeller has 4x12 cab emulation, through the impulse response I'm using.

But the 4x12 setting on the IRT-X does still give a bit of the thump that you get with a 4x12 cab.

Is there anything 'wrong' with having it switched on to the 4x12 setting, if I'm already using a 4x12 cab IR?

Nothing is WRONG in the modelling world..........it's all about your own tone shaping but what you propose is a bit pointless like using 2 full stops to end a sentence .. (see what I did there )
.......Line 6 Powercab has similar possibilities

It might produce a somewhat dull sound as you’re essentially double cab’ing. If it sounds good though, it’s good!

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm interested in these as well so thought could be a good place to ask to pool the knowledge - does anybody know if you could use these with an amp head to provide a dummy load or is the load just for the "through" method to take the line out to amplify in the IRT?

    Thanks
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

  • IRT-X doesn't have a load, so you need some kind of load when running an amp into it (speaker or a dummy load).
