I pre-ordered at guitarguitar and received an email saying to expect the Volante mid/late March. Quite a bit later than I thought.

The US got their release today...

Too expensive for what it does.  Particularly because all the different sounds you hear when the pedal is demoed alone and in stereo will be lost in a mix or on stage.

  • Well, I WAS going to buy a Thermae or a Tonal Recall, but now...

I think this sounds fantastic. I have a fair pile of delays (big box Memory Man, Timeline, GFI Specular Tempus, Fractal FX8, some Eventides in the studio rack) and I'm pretty sure NONE of them can do what the Volante can.

NAMM stands for "Not available, maybe March"
    Red ones are better.

Looks like Mr Mayer is using one already (zoom in on the board in the first two photos)

It does sound great but I’ve been a bit put off by my experience with the El Cap.. sounds great in demos but when I got one I just found it very uninspiring and dull. Not a patch on the Dunlop Echoplex or (my fave) the tape delay setting on the Line 6 Echo Park.

No. 8 in the pedal. 300 via midi.

Sounds great to me. I've been an analog delay snob for a while now, and have some nice ones in my small collection. I've also been thinking about a proper tape delay, either old (Copicat) or new (Replicator).

It would be for home studio use, and I like to record with effects. Typically I will record guitar to 2 tracks at once - dry on one, full spring reverbed on another. I can then set the reverb level in the mix without using plug-ins. Which brings me to my big question:

    DOES IT DO 'KILL DRY'?

Yes, you can power it up in Kill Dry mode.

Although just been thinking. If I lose one of my H9s which I mainly use for delays and reverbs last in the chain I could fit a volante on my board to replace it. Hmmmmmmm. Better start saving and selling some stuff ;)

Will the Volante push down used prices on the El Capistan, and stuff like the Roland RE-20?

Bit of dumb-arse question here, but is this digital emulation or does it actually have magnetic heads/drum in it? I just assumed digital, but some of the blurb implies it has magnetic drum/heads a'la original Echroec?
