A very good friend of mine passed away recently... He made music he called Heavy Pop...  His songs usually consist of quite down verse lyrics and uplifting choruses... 

I used his music in my last two guitar videos.. Id be interested to see what people think.. Sadly he wont ever have a chance to get this out there properly now so I want to do it for him ..

When I saw the thread title I looked in to ask if Matthew Sweet counts as power pop.  The first post answered that question.

I've got all their records (unless they've released anything in the last 4 or 5 years) but Strength is far and away my favourite.  Brilliant album!

One of my favourite bands is called Switchblade Scarlett - slightly heavier power pop, but still power pop. Not remotely famous and I've no idea how I found out about them. Their stuff is only available on Bandcamp now - https://switchbladescarlett.bandcamp.com/album/white-line-fever   - two EPs and an album.
