Stupid stupid GAS..

What's Hot
I'm not a piano player so my keyboard crunching is pretty pathetic. I understand chord construction so can in my DAW create complex chord patterns, but I'll never be a Mrs Mills..
So why oh why, oh why oh why am I stupidly gassing for a copy of Spectrasonics Keyscape? This is nuts. For a VST library it's bloody expensive, but incredibly impressive and I will never be ever be able to play it well enough to justify it, but my brainworm is working overtime trying to convince me to buy it.

I absolutly love the sound of the Fender Rhodes and back in the 80s owned a a full 88 key suitcase model that my girlfriend, now wife, used to play in the band I was in. In those days used ones were as cheap as chips. So the Rhodes got under my skin.
However my wife hardly plays piano at all nowadays.

I've got the Lounge Lizard Rhodes and Addictive Keys grand piano VSTs. both of which I highly regarded, so why am I bloody fixated on Keyscape.. what is this stupid, stupid GAS I am afflicated with?

Should I see a pyschiatrist?

Here's the bloomin' culprit. (Oh God isn't it wonderful)

That sounds brilliant, you should buy that.
    Did that help?

Although the Stereo panning on the first clip did make me slightly nauseous.
Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame, you give love a bad name. Not to mention archery tuition.

Sounds great doesn’t it?  I especially love the Greg Phillinganes video of him trying it out and playing snippets of some hit songs

Nah, far better things to spend money on. How long will that plugin last for? Will it be compatible with future operating systems or new releases of your DAW of choice? I can't see it being something that can be sold secondhand easily

It sounds great and looks like a great tool for people who will use it often, as a whim because you've got a hole burning in your pocket... I'd pass.

Lookee here mister - you're not welcome in Gas Town with your reasoned arguments and pragmatic thinking.

  • Just buy it! ......you think your GAS is bad? I’m tempted to buy a Fender CS telecaster off here and I already have 3 guitars which I have not played for over a year!  It is really stupid of me, especially as I have no room left under the spare bed to keep it :o

    So...?

  • Probably heresy to say on a guitar forum, but a warm, swirling Fender Rhodes is probably my favourite sound in the history of recorded music.  I only wish my keyboard skills warranted buying one...
Not much of the gear, even less idea.

Have you seen these comments by users in KVR - I guess it's software so they may have solved these issues now. Sounds like you need a powerful PC.
