88, not a bad age considering he’d been ill for a long time. My wife treated him for cancer when she was nursing and says he was a genuinely lovely bloke, nothing like the characters he played. RIP.

Ahh, yes I loved It Ain't although many years since it was repeated. Have been known to do my own tuneless version as a mic soundcheck. Sing it Lofty.
    RIP.

RIP: He was just brilliant in "It Ain't Half Hot Mum"..

However, I do remember as a young lad though back in the early 70's,  that I found him unnerving cos he was just a bit too much like my secondry school PE teacher (who scared the living shit out of me as young teenager..cos they belted you bloody hard in them days)

Another part of my youth has passed away . . Windsor Davies made me laugh out loud many, many times . . . RIP
Id just like to point out that, despite all the video and DNA evidence, it genuinely wasn't me, your Honour  !

Indeed a sad loss and great talent.

After He and Don Estelle had thier hit single they did a summer season. They were very good as you would expect from old school professionals.

    RIP

  • He lived below my dad's flat in Swansea marina in about 1994. I used to crash there at the weekends when dad was back in Dorset and he complained one time because I was playing the Manics "Holy Bible" at full tilt for about 29 hours flat whilst off my tits

Lovely guy when. I went an apologised on the Sunday night - offered me a brew which I declined because I was a cocky little twat.

    Wish I'd said yes now
