NGD: Gibson 336.

BlueingreenBlueingreen Frets: 2592
Got this last week.  Very happy with it generally but the fret-wire isn't what I was expecting and it will be going straight to a luthier to get fitted with 6100s before I start playing it in earnest.

I think it's just the stock frets Gibson put on eg a Les Paul.  When I bought my 339 a couple of years ago I compared it with a 336 in the shop and as far as I can remember I detected no difference in fret wire.  So I just assumed this one would have the same wire as my 339, which is tall thin wire, 6105 or thereabouts. But it has the stock Gibson frets which are wider and shallower.  All my other guitars have chunkier frets and I just can't get on with the stock Gibson ones, particularly since I have a touch of arthritis in my left index finger.

I think so too.  Will cover most of the territory of a Les Paul or 335 in a package that's much lighter than either (haven't weighed it but I'd guess it could be under 7lbs) and much less bulky than the 335. Jon Herington, who's one of my favourite current players, has an almost identical one as his number 1.  I expect it to become my go-to humbucker guitar once it's been tweaked a bit.

I can attest to that- I've had mine almost 9 years and still adore it. The frets on mine aren't too bad- the usual wide but not-very-tall Gibson ones, though getting a little low now. It's perfect on the LP/335 thing and you can emerald push it the rest of the way with EQ and playing style. You'll love it :)

I might have to knock one out to that, later. . ;)
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.
