What Mouse you using ?

I use a Microsoft wireless mouse with a Mac mini ...I know,..odd right?

I don't know how I ended up with this, but either way its not good, the wireless drops out regularly, and it has the weird scroll touch thingy which is horrible to use when surfing and impossible to use in music software, plus I get this frustrating lag when dragging the user across the screen

So...Id prefer a wired mouse unless anyone can convince me theres something great out there?

Logitech M705 here. I've used it on Mac and Windows for years and no issues. I've also dropped it loads of times and it's never stopped working

What keyboard are you using?

If you have the Apple wired keyboard with alphanumeric pad, it should be possible to connect a good, old-fashioned USB mouse via the keyboard. No batteries, no drop-outs, no lag. 

A secondary advantage to the long keyboard is the greater availability of key shortcuts for your chosen DAW - either via a silicone keyboard "skin" or preprinted onto the keys themselves.

Logitech M185 wireless mouse with MBP here - works fine with the dongle plugged into the wired Mac keyboard of which @Funkfingers speaks.

I got a new iMac with a 'magic mouse' but it's a piece of shite. The latest in a long line of apple fails. It's rechargeable, but when it runs out of charge the plug goes into the underside so you can't use it! It's not rocket science to figure out that if you had it coming out the back you could still use it. Anyway, I tossed it aside and use an El cheapo PC wired mouse that works perfectly. Apple are so up their own arse with luvvie design that they can't even see lack of functionality.

I use the same one, it's excellent.  A decent set of batteries lasts for ages. 

I've had a lot of experience with Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and Mouse sets through my work in IT, and they're utter garbage.  They're prone to losing range really quickly.
