Having watched the first couple zombies with an explanation (of sorts). 
It's quite an odd programme in some ways, definite elements of the original Monkey series meets something almost Shakespearian in terms of plot meets 28 Days Later. 
I don't know if knowing about Korean medieval history would make more sense of it or not, although it isn't necessary. Although best costumes on Netflix.

Yes, much of my time has been spent trying to work out what they made those mesh hats out of in medieval Korea.

I've just started watching as I'm a big fan of Korean stuff and the language.. plus I love Zombie stuff.

If you like this sort of stuff I do recommend reading 'World War Z'  by Max Brooks. It's just an incredibly well thought out and riveting book that deals with the mentality required to deal with a threat that cannot be stopped by conventional 'shock & awe' tactics.

It's done as a series of interviews with people who survived the onslaught

The film of the same name, which was a completely different story from the book, was just terrible.. except for the 'river of zombies' concept
