Dodgy Amazon listings?

This might be old news but I've only just experienced it:

I wanted a lightning-jack adapter to use an old set of headphones with my lightning-only current phone.

Head to Amazon - loads of options so I start reading the buyers reviews - the first half dozen I check are all reviews relating to completely different items that what's being sold in the listing. I presume the seller has repurposed an old listing for something good, to flog their 10p tat and the old reviews are retained? 

What a scam :-/

You do get reviews by people who say i only bought such and such because it has so many good reviews but its crap..I check if its sold by Amazon and  offers Free returns before i check reviews.

It’s the reviews that are the giveaway here - I’ve not found one yet (gave up) that the reviews were for the listed item.

Not sure what the deal is with the listing, even the questions and answers seem to be for a lamp.

I'm guessing the company looks for reviewers on that Facebook group in exchange for free goods.

I think those £300 prices are something to do with automated systems that are listing them.
