How did I miss this being made?
    Looks ok- a bit schmaltzy.

  • Looks a bit lite, esp seeing as it's in english. Guess it's the money they're after rather than authenticity.

An honest trailer? Did well at a film festival and people around Europe, including the UK, want it banned.

It's not schmaltzy.  I think they got the tone just right.  Many directors might have tackled the subject in a po-faced, deadly serious, look at these terrible people manner, but it's actually done in a blackly comic style - it's very funny but that doesn't diminish the horror of some of the things which ultimately happened.

I knew a fair amount about the story before I watched it, but I imagine it's a bit like Bohemian Rhapsody - diehard fans of Norwegian Black Metal might get annoyed by inaccurate details or errors in the chronology.   I don't have that in-depth knowledge and watching it as a film, I thought it was excellent.

I don't see why anyone would want it banned.  If you don't like it, don't watch it.

It was a sort of joke, along the lines of 'metal folks of a certain breed are always saying certain metal things are not authentic enough'.

Looked it up on Wiki. Sounds like it should be quite funny.
I'll watch it if it's on DVD.
It features the burning down of churches and the killing of a gay man. Maybe that's why people want it banned (the poor humourless, delicate little flowers).

You're right.  I was thinking about the film as a whole but there are indeed specific elements which might - will - offend those waiting to be offended.

The scenes in question aren't glamorised or presented as something to applaud or laugh at.  There are a number of scenes in the film which I found disturbing, but feeling disturbed or horrified is like feeling happy or amused or all warm and fuzzy, they're all part of life.  I don't want to ban any of them.  Well, maybe the warm and fuzzy.

I've been having a most exciting day revolving around colostomy bags and nursing homes, so my sense of humour might be a bit warped right now.

yes, and they have him being played by a Jewish actor. He is not happy, the poor wee daft racist murderer.

Amazing how people still think that banning is an effective solution.
If they don't want the film to be watched by anyone, they should say it's endorsed by the Church of England and sanctified by the Pope. No-one would  want to watch it after that.

I understand, I have some recent experience of nursing homes.  No colostomy bags, but catheters and Alzheimers and stuff.  It's not always a barrel of laughs.
