Tele wiring

Really struggling to find wiring diagram for the following :

1 volume, 1 tone pot

Humbucker neck
Single coil bridge
4 way switch  _ bridge, both parallel , Both series(?), neck. 


Only diagram I found was for a single coil neck rather than humbucker. That one stated needed another earth wire attached to the neck, no idea why.. 

Using 500k pots instead and. 47cap but will this work or is there another one that would be better??

Just a thought: If you make the tone control a push/pull type you could tap the humbucker to give you something similar to a standard Tele s/c neck pickup, thus adding even more tonal options. This assumes you have a four-wire humbucker.

I’d be tempted to use a five way switch, and included a setting for bridge and tapped neck. Series or parallel depending on their relative strengths.

yeah I'd thought of that, but tbh really can't be bothered with a 5 way switch!

yes had thought of that, will try this first tho as I have a rather unusual dislike of coil tapping!

Fair enough Just out of interest what is it that you dislike?

The reason you need a separate ground wire for the neck pickup is so the cover (and baseplate, even if there is no cover) doesn’t become ‘hot’ and produce noise.

If that’s an issue with the humbucker - which it is, if it has single-core shielded cable - you can make the bridge pickup the ‘upper’ coil in series instead, which is easier to wire.
