Nero - Me and You...and the 2011 breakthrough of Dubstep

I loved the surge of Dubstep tunes around 2011 that broke through to the mainstream at that time. Those fat 'wobble bass' lines often made with Native Instruments Massive soft synth were great. The star faded pretty quick and Dubstep went back under ground after this brief time in the light. Not a guitar in sight!

Good tunes

I used to play these over and over:

Nero - Me and You
Nero - Innocence
Nero - Guilt
Emalkay - Fabrication
Skream's remix of La Roux's In For The Kill
Flux Pavilion - Bass Cannon
Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites

I particularly enjoyed people getting upset by dubstep.

I used to be a regular in Big Apple back in the late 90's early 00's and used to chat to Benga and Skream a fair bit.

Early dubstep was pretty heavy, but the later stuff that arrived was pretty shit IMO.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

  • I like Burial’s album, but not that into dubstep.  Drum & bass is my thing, been listening to it on and off from the mid 90’s.

I was really into 16bit, especially the more atmospheric ones like this:

They also have their fair share of filthy ones too
