Lacquer tint matching

What's the best/easiest way to match the tint of existing lacquer when having to do a partial refinish to a maple neck after a refret?

you'll need nitro, amber and brown etc and mix some up to try and get close, i recently did a mim tele headstock that was a pita to get looking right, it was a funny looking colour like orangey brown
