Custom magnetic pickup for Epiphone Deluxe Bass....

After trying one of these in a shop last year and deciding not to buy it because of feedback issues, I've gone and ordered one with the hope of fitting some kind of custom magnetic pickup. Anyone have any thoughts on what might fit nicely? I can't find a floating bass pickup but wondered if any UK based pickup makers could make one?

Ideally yeah, but specifically for bass.

If you're prepared to drill some mounting holes into the neck I suppose that could be done in much the same way provided there's enough exposed neck to do so.

Have you thought about the Lace Ultra-Slim bass pickup?

It's designed to be surface mounted rather than attached to the neck, so I'm not sure if it would work with a curved top (it's not clear from the pictures whether that Epiphone is flat or curved)

I spoke to Lace a while back and they said that the distance it would be from the strings would not make it perform to its best. The top of the pickup was going to be 13mm's from the strings.
