Yes i only guess where it's going to be in the ballpark so no 2 guitars are the same that's what i like about doing it this way and looks much more natural to me

Thanks Scott this is very mild ageing, i mean hardly any but i have another I'm stringing up this week which is quite aged, the checking is coming out properly good, even the headstock looks like an old one, I'll post pics up and i still want to fade more out leaving a hang tag type fade

I'll get sound clips up soon but pleased with tea burst tone

    That is stunning work.
I’m also amazed what difference those couple of days in the sun have made, I really wouldn’t have expected it to be so significant.

Can someone enlighten me what the difference is - my uneducated eyes can’t see anything different ?

Presumably the colour has faded a bit... but to be honest it's hard to tell -  I'd like to see the "after" picture taken in the same light (indoors?) as the "before" picture (looks to be in bright sunlight in the OP).

    Nice looking guitar though

    Nice work mate, looking good.

Out of interest how long do you leave the nitro before scraping the binding? I’ve had mixed results when left too long.

You can't leave it long because it'll dry out and goes hard and scraping turns to chipping, goldtops have been the worst

I literally get colour on burst etc then lock it in with a sealer coat and start scraping within an hour if possible, then top coats go on, if you do leave it go over it with a clear to soften it first

@customkits if you want to create the image on your phone before uploading, there's a free (non advert filled) app called Layout, it's from instagram and dead easy to use.

@customkits if someone is wants a faded look then I’m the same as you... UV all the way. Having said that, most customers like the tinted clear coat approach which is good and it cuts down lead times too.

no one said it was easy or quick lol, this is the only way I'd paint a burst that's just my personal choice and the look i want but it takes bloody ages, I'll post my other one up later that's getting more aged and completely faded but it's well on it's way now, i just thought I'd show the fading if it interests anyone then great

I do get a lot of impatient customers :D the fading is cool especially on les Paul’s and yours is a great example.
