Gifts to take on a business trip to Sweden

What's Hot
StuckfastStuckfast Frets: 2412
I'm off to visit a client in Sweden at the end of the week and would like to take them something to say thanks for their hospitality. Struggling to think of something characteristically British that isn't just horrible Union Jack themed tat. We have a good vineyard here, but I won't be taking any hold baggage so I guess I can't fly with bottles.

Any ideas? What's good in this country but hard to obtain in Scandinavia, apart from alcohol?

A large diamond would be a pretty generous gesture.

I used to visit someone who always asked for proper tea as they could only get Lipton over there.

Before you take anything, do you know if their company has any rules about what they can, or cannot, accept?  I work in the automotive industry, supplying components to the world's big auto makers.  All of them that I can think of have rules in place which only permit their employees to accept gifts of minimal value and usually only those branded by the supplier (i.e. pens, note books, USB sticks etc).  There are also rules about when they can accept hospitality such as meals and whether we can buy them drinks.

Is there something regional to you rather than something generically British?

There won't be any issues with them accepting gifts, it's a very informal business.

I live in East Anglia. I guess I could bring them an eel.

I've never been to Sweden although I used to work with a Swedish woman and my sister in law worked for the British embassy there. We used to send CDs to my sister in law as they were so expensive there although I suppose a few S Club 7 albums aren't the treat they once were. Ann, the Swedish woman, married one of the presenters on Central News; so I guess what she could get here and not there was romance with a minor celebrity.

My experience of going outside the UK is that they don't understand the importance of Anglo-Indian culture ( although it may be important to me in the Black Country than it is to you in  East Anglia) and there are a lot of Indian food hampers and stuff like that you could take.

Maybe a book about East Anglia? There's a Secret Gardens of East Anglia book on amazon that looks nice.

You probably need to know a guy who deals in them.
    A diamond geezer, no doubt.

Tea and curry isn't a bad bet, thanks. Amazing how the English Shop only seems to sell things I wouldn't want even if I was a million miles from home.
