Pedal breakout box (not sure what they are called...)

Is there a pedalboard interface that has an in and out, but ignores it if it isn't used?

I sometimes use a wah, sometimes I don't, is there anything that will allow me just to plug it in mid chain when needed with no fuss?  When I remove the in/out from the interface, it will just ignore it. 

(in case you are wondering why mid chain for a way madman, it might be other pedals in the future...)

You basically want a "normalled" patchbay type of thing. The in+outs are linked, and you break the link when you plug into them.

If you're handy with a soldering iron it's not a difficult job. Basically four jack sockets in a box.

You'd have an input, output, loop send and return for the wah pedal. Use switching jacks for the loop in/out and wire the switched contacts together. Then if nothing's plugged in to the send/return jacks the signal passes straight through.

Even simpler but uglier- use four regular jacks and just replace the wah pedal with a short patch cable when not in use.
