I'll stick a strap on it later and see how it feels. If it's too unbalanced, I'll stick another body on it.
    Too much information. ;)

Perhaps I should just man-up and take comfort from the extra body weight giving me the tone and sustain most white men can only dream of.

@stonevibe mine is the white version, great guitars
I literally just got mine yesterday on my lunch break at work. Was an impulse buy, but it played so well and is really well made, I was astonished at the fit and finish of this guitar, so bought it as the double binding on black looks really smart.

    9.2lbs?

That's the same weight as my Les Paul  :o . I thought these were pine?

Send it back and see if you can get a lighter one, that weight is a joke for a Tele.

Do they vary in weight then ?  I thought that they were all CNC machined so would all weigh the same ?

Density of wood, like people, can vary.

Actually, I've just weighed it on my kitchen scales (which I didn't think would take it) and it weighs 4.3Kg - i.e. 9.48lbs !

I weight my other two solidbodies whilst I was at it and my PRS SE is 3.1Kg (6.83lbs) and my Jim Reed is 3.77Kg (8.31lbs).

I tried the Tele with a strap and it's better balanced than I imagined, but I can see that it would be very tiring to do a whole gig with it at that weight.  I think I'll have to send it back after all.

    That's a crazy weight!
I'm really surprised a pine guitar can be that heavy, the one I had was like a feather.

It's just a pine cap. The main part of the body is lead.

Mine's just arrived.  Christ - it weighs a bloody ton, and is very unbalanced - very light neck, heavy body.  I don't have any scales that will accurately measure it as it's too heavy for my kitchen scales and too light to register on my digital bathroom scales, so I did a rough estimation based on my weight holding it and not holding it - I've calculated it to be 9.2lbs (4.2Kg).

Mine's also, disappointingly, "Crafted in China".  I thought these were Indonesian ?
A little trick with the bathroom scales, weigh yourself with and without the guitar.

No need.  As long as you don't change your body weight between weighing yourself and yourself holding the guitar, it makes no difference.  Either way, I've decided not to change the body but to send the bugger back.... send the bugger back...  these aren't the ones I wanted... etc...

Might be worth at least playing it first so you know whether to get an replacement?

True - but - how likely is it that another 50's CV Tele would weigh much less ?
