Itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny, tiny little amp machiney!

What's Hot

I'm in the fortunate position to actually be able to snatch a few minutes of playing guitar at work! Crazy, I know!

To that end, I'm looking for one of those tiny little amps I can make some noise through. I'll probably be pairing it with a second hand Squier or something which can just be lobbed in the van and not worried about. Headphone output is a must too.

Does anyone have one of those tiny amps and what do you think of it? Any recommendations?

    Pignose.
Turn the volume right up and control it all from the guitar.
Doesn't sound like a toy amp.

Does it have to be battery powered?

I've got the Marshall MS-4 and can absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend not wasting your time or your hard-earned on one.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

I don’t suppose so. I’ve got an inverter in the van and if I’m not there then I can plug in. What were you thinking?

If you don't need something that takes batteries and you can stretch to £100ish then the Blackstar ID10 is very good and it's also quite good for playing mp3s from your phone.

I use a Vox AC30 Amplug - They're made in Japan and I think they're great, but headphones only.

I've got a Fly 3 for quiet noodling and it's perfectly adequate, especially for the money. If you luck out and find somewhere doing an offer on the kit (amp, extra speaker, psu) it's very good value.

Probably not as good as a Yamaha THR or the Vox thingy, but flexible and cheap.

The THR5 I'm selling would be perfect for that
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I had a THR10 for that very purpose. Didn't like it. Flogged it in the end. People seem to love them but it wasn't for me. I now have a big blackstar head that I dug out of the loft and a very small cab that sounds best if you lie it on its front face.

I've had 2 MS-2s. They are OK but I guess they won't do what the Pignose will. However they suited my purposes fine and if I needed another I'd probably get one. Not too expensive either IIRC.

I have a Marshall MS-2, a mini laney Lionheart and my daughter has a katana mini. The ms-2 is rubbish, the other two I'd recommend.
Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a guitar a little.

I like the Yamaha THR 5 or 10, ( I have both). They’re a little costlier than many but sound great.
