I havnt a clue what I am dooing......

What's Hot
OK,
so the spare bedroom, that was originally called 'Dads Junk Room', has now been cleaned out and is now my study, and music room. I am learning bass guitar, and the room looks like this...

My main guitar amp is the stack on the left, which is not a dedicated bass amp

My wall of sound is going to be joined by a pair of these...

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f28/snipershot7990/20190324_145435_zpsbygafy6z.jpg

All the speakers, including those attached to my guitar amp, are passive. The new ones are 18 inch, i think, which I want to use with my bass as I am scared of damaging the other ones.

This will also be joined shortly by a keyboard, and hopefully microphone so my daughter can join in.

Now this is where I am lost. Im not looking to set up a recording studio....well i dont think so....but I want to set everything up to work alongside each other without having to swap out cables etc.

I am presuming that I will require a mixing desk of some sort, to link it all together and another amp for the new passive speakers?
There is also a PC in the room, but dont really want the expense software

Any advice on how to set this up is appreciated
Russ

Cheersd Spark, so am I right in thinking that these act as an amp as well? I can just output to the speakers?

  • Yes a powered desk is the way forward for the Ohm speakers so into the desk goes mic and keyboard. Bit confused about the bass situation, do you want to plug it into the desk,? It would appear from the picture that the amp you’ve got it plugged into already should be more than capable.

Plugging the bass guitar through either a multi-effect unit or a D.I. box should avoid the need for (ab)using the guitar amplifier.

There will come a time when you want to record it - the Zoom mulittrack R16 will do that and it can be used as a mixer if all you want is to control levels. No need for any PC sound card interface. You can either mic the amps or DI.
However then you'll want to edit the results on your PC so Reaper is the best cheap option. It's a rabbit hole!

Now I see someone's said the same in your other thread - the Zoom is simple to use, no awkard softwware to load, and is much like ye olde tape recorder.
