how to remove guitar backing and record my own over it

hi all,

not sure whether this question should be in this category or "making music"

I basically want to take an already recorded song, lets say an easy song like "breaking the law" judas priest, but remove the guitars so I can record myself playing over it, like a backing track. I don't wish to publish this, its just for my own practice sessions. some of the songs I wish to play don't exist on youtube so I have to consider creating my own. also this way I don't have to practice all the song I can play one verse, chorus and guitar solo.

any help, ideas would be appreciated

You can do that very thing on Karaoke Version. They have 1000’s of songs which you can customise. Only slight downside is you do have to pay, however at only £1.99 a track it’s very reasonable.

You could do it crudely by scooping all the mids out with eq and once you've added your guitar it will sound vaguely passable but equally a million miles from production quality.
