I've bought a Boss GT-001 as I wanted a small multi effects to sit on my desk. I'm now looking for a (preferably free) piece of software to record via it. It doesn't have to be the best software ever as it is only really for me to listen to my (attempted) playing to critique myself. Also the GT-001 doesn't have a looper and I suppose I could record to create loops... could I?

On a side note I was initially disappointed with the GT-001 as when connected via USB to Desktop PC it had nasty hum. This wasn't present on a laptop.

This short video seems to explain why (but you probably knew this!).

Try Audacity for free and really simple recording.

You can be up and running in a few minutes and you can get pretty good results with it.
