I had a dialogue recently with a guy selling a Squier standard Tele for £320 I asked him what he was willing to take for it and stated that new ones are £239, it was also listed as a “Fender” no mention of Squier, here are his responses

“Don't be silly this one is not a new Chinese copy that hasn't the original hallmark  output jack etc, this is over 9 years old and in excellent condition.”

No mate, it’s a Squier just like an Epiphone is NOT a Gibson.

Probably vague descriptions of condition, such as 'good' or 'excellent', as they're completely subjective.

"I bought this recently from [insert forum items name] for £xxx and would like the same price that I paid for it."

Well it's now had one more owner and usage so not sure about that.

"I bought this from forum items  (insert name) and here are the links to their sale thread, hope they don't mind me using their pictures and description"

Lazy bastards do this. There is a guitar for sale at the moment where the seller has done this and the thread referenced is just the same, a link to another FS with the original pictures.

I can be guilty of a few of the above phrases - But when you are selling guitars for a living for over 40 years, then hard not to go there - I just try to be honest and offer no BS with any phrases I've used to describe any particular guitar

But the one that annoys me is 'untouched' - total BS - The guy at the factory who did the final check over has played it - If it has been on display, then the shop staff have touched it - And I'm a 100% sure that you 'the owner' have touched it, just to tune it up and check it works - Now if I touch it to check it over, with a view to a purchase, then the list of those that have played it is growing

    'find another one'

They only made 10 - Sometimes for a very good reason, in that they had little confidence in trying to sell 11
