It used to be Terrapin Trucking in Crouch End, CD/Vinyl shop unparalleled in excellence. Or the music bookshop next to Roka's in Denmark Street.

Since they both closed I can't say that I actually enjoy anything other than a good second hand/remaindered bookshop.
The book shop, was that Helter Skelter?
It may well have been, coudn't say for certain.

guitarguitar indeed... and Costa Coffee... I relish the thought of those glorious Belgian Chocolate Brownies... let alone the sight of them. Gobbling them down is a heavenly experience.

    Ivor Mairants
Phil's Vintage & Modern in Thame
    Coda

Any independent hardware store (of which there are 3 within 5 minutes of home)

EDIT:  If we are playing overseas stores then ...

The new Rudy's in SoHo NYC
Yellow Rat Bastard NYC (moves around - usually on Broadway mid-town somewhere, for all your cheap denim needs)
    Roger Sadowsky's showroom in Queens
(Sadly no longer there - Mandolin Bros on Staten Island)
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

    Forbidden Planet (Manchester of London)
Any other Space Dolly shops (as the wife calls them)
Flight Club in NYC (sneaker consignment store)
    Fancy Jeans/denims stores
    Antiques centres
As @RaymondLin says, any shop in Akihabara Tokyo

Don't really like browsing guitar shops so much now, but when I do, I prefer s/h stores with unexpected stock. I did like Southside Music and Main Drag music in Brooklyn though.

I quite like garden centres.... well, the plants bit anyway. Used book shops would be another favourite. Crikey, I sound old!

When I went to Tokyo I had 7 days there, the first 4 days I did everything on my to do list, each I allocated 2-3 hours. temple there, skyscraper, exhibits etc.   Akihabara is the only place i went back and spent the afternoon there, even then I only managed only like 5 shops in half a street before I had to go.  The place is a maze and treasure of all things weeboo.

Does my local chip shop count? Not much to browse, but the products are great.

    I'll add a few more...

Beanos of Croydon when it was open, although it was normally overpriced.

Foster and Sons of Jermyn St has been a shoemaker since the 1800's and you get the feeling they haven't updated it much since. The smell of leather in there is fantastic, and they make great shoes!

Hamley's brings back fond memories of visiting as a child. Now I love taking my kids there. The look on their faces when they realised the whole shop sells only toys was priceless.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Yes, give me a good motorbike shop. It used to be guitar shops but I don’t feel the same compulsion to visit them these days.

Image result for Britcher and Rivers

Britcher & Rivers, on the High Street in Rye, East Sussex.

Major draw; They still sell the old-fashioned chewy Toffee Crumble (not the newer rock solid Chocolate Nibs-type bullshit). Plus, the owner is a hilariously grumpy bastard who never fails to let you know his (let's call them forthright :o ) opinions on local politics, national politics, global politics and (his favourite subject) how often the bins are collected.

    Highly recommended.
Not much of the gear, even less idea.
