I now know what the back of Derek Trucks' s head looks like!

Saw Tedeschi Trucks Band last night. I don't believe he faced the audience once.

Still a great show though.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

I was there too and it was indeed a brilliant show but yes there was that but I can forgive him as his playing is utterly brilliant. First time I have managed to catch TTB although I saw the DTB three times, I do believe his playing is even better these days. It’s not all about him though, the whole band was excellent and we got Dreams too  =)
This is the truth from hillbilly guitars!

I logged in to specifically start a thread entitled "What's up with Derek Trucks?" to ask if there's a reason he doesn't ever seem to face the audience.

I too was at The Palladium on Saturday night and can't quite understand why DT is so afraid of the audience.

It was a fabulous gig though and Susan more than made up for her husband's lack of stage presence.  Goodness what a voice!  The whole band were incredible and I have to give it to the guy, he sure can play that guitar, even facing the wrong way.

I don't suppose anyone has a set-list from the night as there were a couple of songs (covers I'm assuming as I'm familiar with all their material) I didn't recognise?

My guess is that he has assumed the roll of bandleader and is giving cues to the other musicians on stage. However, others manage to lead whilst (mostly) facing the audience.

The two covers I picked up on were Dreams (Allman Bros), and Like a Bird on a Wire (Leonard Cohen).

They did The Letter and Key To The Highway too.

EDIT: in the Saturday show, that is.
Not much of the gear, even less idea.

There might have been a Joe Cocker cover in there somewhere too, as the bloke sitting next to me suddenly sat bolt upright and said, "Joe Cocker!", loudly and for no readily apparent reason, about halfway through the second set.

Never thought to look but the set list for Friday and Saturday is on setlist.fm already.
    The covers from Saturday were:
Key to the Highway (Charles Segar)
    The Letter (The Box Tops)
Bird on the Wire (Leonard Cohen)
    Space Captain (Joe Cocker)
I Pity The Fool (Bobby Blue Band)
Get What You Deserve (Derek Trucks Band)
    Dreams (Allman Bros Band)

Possibly not in that order lol.

Bird on the Wire and I Pity the Fool have been regulars in their set for a while. The others aren’t familiar to me, though.
