1969 Gibson Es-335 TDC

Condition: "Impossible". Must be seen.

Year. 1969.  (See the picture). Gibson say it is "1967 or 1969" (from the serial). Which is daft when I sent them the picture below. It is clearly 1969. The guitar is 50 years old this year. Perhaps you are? I dare not use the phrase possible investment, but...just saying....I have priced the guitar carefully.

Serial number: 8911**

Two Owners. First owner in USA had guitar for 40 years from new. Second owner (me) for the last 10 years.
Guitar has been expertly refretted with slightly bigger wire by one of the best refret guys north of Croydon. (We are blessed in the North West. But not so much for Gibson dealers.) And it sounds wonderful. Pickups read 7.47 (Neck), 7.63 (Bridge).

Totally Original and untouched (except for refret)

Has a "2" under the serial number. I have seen this  before this on guitars that have no cosmetic flaws so maybe that is what it means.

Original Archcraft case from the factory. (60s Es  buyers had a choice of a hard case with a yellow lining or a semi-hard Archcraft  case with a red lining.) I will post a picture of the Gibson catalogue later which mentions the case options.

Gibson Instruction booklet, Gibson strings hang  tag.

Price £4000. Collect from near Manchester. Apologies but I am unwilling to post and I hate driving. No trades. Sorry about that.

Polite request. Our ads may come up in search engines but I will only deal with forum regulars. Thanks.

Random as hell question. Someone came into the clothes shop I manage in Manchester  with a 69 cherry 335 last week and kindly let me have a play.

Wasn't you was it? Was a amazing guitar and i'm sure this is just as good.

    Thanks.

    No that wasn't me.
I was in Matalan the other day but I didn't have the guitar with me,

As mentioned, the Gibson late sixties catalogue shows a choice of 2 cases including the semi hard Archcraft case that was supplied new with this guitar.

    Beaut! Assuming the neck's on the slim side at '69? @Skipped ;;

It has the narrower nut width that arrived mid sixties. But front to back on this one is rounded, fills the hand nicely, and I have seen this on other 69s, and on 69 Sg Specials, including the one I sold on here.

I was the ‘lol’ - I’ve never seen the condition of a guitar described as ‘impossible’ and it made me chuckle.

This one came home with me today, it truly is a stunning guitar, and plays fantastically well. The refret is great and the neck has plenty of meat in it.

John is a lovely guy too, and we spent quite a while chatting guitars and life.

Cheers John, It’s gone to a good home.
