Yes , burn it. What an utterly pointless piece of furniture....what is point......

I had an upholstery accident once. Fortunately for me I'm now completely recovered.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Had you thought of a fitted cover instead?

I'm in the north west and we use an old style traditional upholsterer who has done a lot of work for our family. Always pleased with his work. If you want his number pm me. He's based near Lancaster.

Based on a quote I had recently for reupholstering dining room chairs I would agree around £400 - £500 for a chaise longue in decent fabric. Quite a bit more if you want quality leather.

    Chaise Longue? North West?
    Two thoughts spring to mind:-
    You're in East Cheshire.
Or you've confused the Whippets bed for a piece of country house furniture.

There used to be a little upholstery shop round the corner from me. It was run by a Mr Balding who, and this is no word of a lie, used to wear an appalling wig. The general opinion was that if he couldn't cover his own head properly what were the odds that he would be any better with your sofa?

Our dog does sleep on it, but she's a bit chunkier than a whippet

Can definitely empathise. Positively awful when the chaise longue starts to look a bit scruffy. Very embarrassing when we retire to the drawing room with guests after supper.

  • If it's a good piece of furniture, it's worth doing - £500 is less than a good new chaise I reckon.

If it is good and you like it, get it re-upholstered.  You won't buy much in the line of an equivalent for that kind of money.

To do it properly, with good fabric and a refurb of the cushioned parts, I reckon £750 - £1000.

It was redone less than 10 years ago, but a cat scratched the fabric, so it needs recovering, not all the padding replacing too
