I've just bought another Strat and this one has to make way (plus I have a '79/80 strat anyway, in identical livery albeit with a maple board).
1978 Fender Stratocaster rosewood board factory natural finish.
100% original aside from one tuner replacement (the high E), but the original is included (the shaft is a little bent). The trem arm and the rear trem cover are replacements. Everything else is original, so far as I know and can tell. Has three pickups all dating to 1978, '78 pots (one of the pots is an earlier 1978 pot with the number on the side), matching serial number to the sticker on the underside of the scratch plate, 1978 three bolt neck etc. At some point in its life someone slightly deepened the middle pickup cavity (but if they thought to change something, all the pickups are original).
Very good condition for its 41 years but some marks on the body, one area on the upper horn has been touched up by respected Brummy luthier Bob Barry (who also dressed the frets and set it up). There is a bit of a dink on the back of the neck.
The neck pocket is very snug and tight as can be seen in the images below and tuning stability is extremely good.
Comes with the slightly longer 1970s moulded Fender Jazzmaster case: this is the 77/78 version with four catches, internal pocket with lid and red lining. I even found the key under the bottom lining (I could hear something rattling around)!
Sounds amazing with loads of versatile tones from the ‘78 pickups (I actually prefer it to my ‘80 strat which has pickups dated 1979 and 1980, but I’ve had that guitar since I bought it brand new in 1981 and I can’t sell it now!) and plays brilliantly.
