In the Midlands in the late 80's/ early 90's, we jammed Stevie Wonder, not Wayne Shorter! The stuff that the "proper muso's" were doing was close on Level 42 and Allan Holdsworth funk/pop and improv. I realised I needed an education and went home to Liverpool and enrolled in music school.

I assume Frankus isn't generally here anymore to comment on the early development of Guthrie and Seth at the Bassment in Chelmsford, but that was probably around the same-ish time. The Bassment is like a fucking motherload.

And then after that I heard Guthrie's recordings and was like, fuck. We had Allan Holdsworth and now we got you, motherfucker!

I still practice, but it's never really been as serious since. I just do my own thing 'cos..

Yeah, Guthrie's solo album is brilliant, I wish he would do another. The Aristocrats stuff is a little too far out for me. I absolutely love his guitar tones on the album, both overdriven/distorted and clean. Waves is one of my favourite ever track intros.
