Why is it?

What's Hot
That when ever anyone tries out an electric they always “widdle”above the 12th fret on it yet never get that far when plugged in and playing to an audience?

Whenever people try out electrics in front of me they ring the open EADGBE strings without playing anything musical to hear the sound of the guitar. Dunno why.

    Tuning is definitely overrated.

I always try out a guitar the way I’d use it on stage. So I start with an open E, then stick it between my legs while hammering the whammy, then play it behind my back, then lick the neck, then set fire to it and then stamp on it.
I did this in Dawson’s last week. The guy said “Are you going to buy that?” I had to admit that I didn't like the action, but I’d think about it.

    Neither do I.

I pretty much always go for some chords and palm muted riffs to get a feel for how it responds.

Don’t know how I’d play without heavy reliance of the e pentatonic at the 12th
