I can see some I'd buy. Surely a lap steel for $1k is a good idea

How can his main Martin acoustic be only $10 to $20k?

maybe I need to cash in my savings

That red strat looks good value

I missed the chance to see these in London, did @Gassage go to it?

If the auction is in the USA, would we need to pay import duty and VAT?

    Yes
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

    Excellent quote from the sale:
I once used a Jedson guitar to break my way out of a room I was trapped in. I lived in a house in the country that had a little guitar room with old fashioned studio doors that clamped shut. Late one night the door handle broke and I couldn’t get out. I was trapped inside with nothing but a load of guitars. This was long before mobile phones, so I took the leg off a slide guitar and used it to break out.

    Yes
even though the guitars were resident in the UK?

Pricing seems quite conservative - possibly ignoring the gilmour effect? I can see some of these going a lot higher.

  • I would think that number of black starts is due to Fender sending them as pre production approval models prior to the signature release.

I wonder which pieces Mr Gilmour is hanging onto, the recent online interview suggested about 4?

It's a typical auction "come and get me " tactic.

  • I might have a flutter, I can see the prices going many times over their estimate. No doubt we will see half of this stuff available through dealers for double what it sells for.
