I reckon you’d be better off with the Thorpy fx peacekeeper. Although it’s not a Klone clone, it does the transparent drive thing really well. The plus with this pedal is it has a 3 band eq rather than just a tone/treble control so you can push the bass or cut the treble. That would be my choice.
With klone clones, I think the tumnus would be a good shout as it tends to push/emphasise the lower frequency’s more than the other clones. Which would help a strat.
The Mythos mjolnir is a really good klone clone also.

Before my Tumnus I was really pleased with the Tone City bad Horse.

No one has mentioned the Ceriatone Centura. I’m curious about those.

I've had a Fredric GE, Ryra, Arc v2 and Rockett Archer. Of those I like the Ryra least, but bear in mind that's trying to minimise "rasp" into a Voxy-flavoured amp.

    Ultimately they're all very similar.

If your strat is a bit weak and thin, try a Seymour Duncan pickup booster, on it's default setting, simply adding a bit of level. Even when adding just a touch of level to my very low output (but lovely) strat, it fills everything out and pedals and amps start reacting to it. It is simply an 'always on' no brainer with my particular strat and doesn't compromise any of the character.

The pedal has two other settings which try to make a single coil sound like a humbucker, I don't use those at all,

Thought I would say as I think it can be a better route, as my strat plays nicely with all my drive pedals once this pedal is sat in front of everything.

I have owned an original big box silver Klon and the 4114 is the klone I've kept - someone should buy that one
    Red ones are better.

Owned and didn’t like the RYRA (muddy) or Frederic FX Zombie. Love and still have the ARC Klone v2 and Pedal Projects.

The Sick As is awesome but not a pure Klone circuit. Shouldn’t have sold that one.
Heh, funny that, I'm finding my RYRA a little muddy too. Isn't it just a.. Klon clone though? I don't particularly understand how there'd be any vast differences. Maybe I just don't like the Klon!

    I love my Tumnus - it's a great pedal.

The Mosky Golden Horse is worth a look - for £17.98 delivered, a bargain!

    R.
Yes is a Tumnus clone and can be had for a bit less than £17.98 - I actually got mine for as little as £9.50. Superb thickening tone pedal!

Seems the amp makes a big difference. Through my H&K 36 the RYRA Klone sounds phenomenal, but through my little Blackstar HT-5R I agree it sounds muddy. Going to try a Tone King Imperial next week, and may well take a couple of my favourite pedals with me to see how they interact.

I got one of the Mosky Golden Horse's today. For just shy of £18 it's pretty good. What was quite surprising was how similar to my old Boss OD2 it is. The tone is a little less congested, but the actual drive is very similar.

The Tumnus came today....it’s exactly what I was after. Perfect with the strat. Not as bassy as I thought and in fact it stacks well with an EP booster after it. Already velcro’d to my board, a definite long termer!

Amps: Tweed Fender Blues Junior, Marshall Origin 20C
    Pedals: Too many to list

  • A klone won't make a single coil sound humbuckerish, just a bit louder and a bit driven. The seymour Duncan booster is the only one I can think of, although an eq pedal is probably a good bet too.

  • Durham Sex Drive is excellent for giving a single coil guitar a bit more output and thickness

Have to say the Ancho Poblano bridge pickup on my strat is in SG territory with the Tumnus and EP boost stacked.
