New 'Junk' Guitar Day

What's Hot

So today I had a whole hour or so free and so I finished my 'Junkcaster'

Pretty much everything on it is used, secondhand (or thirdhand)  and probably not standard. My two favourite parts are the WH Smith old binder pick guard and the 'Switch Of Nothingness'.

Neck came with already loaded with nut, tuners, hooky 'F' logo and dodgy positioned string trees. But it is a big fat U Allparts so I can deal with that.

Action is low and slinky with a set of 11s and the thing screams with the Chopper T in the Bridge, so not a bad afternoon.

This is a dirty low down growler of an Esquire / Junkcaster and belongs in a Pawn Shop or being played through an old valve amp on the edge of exploding.

Anyone else got any cool Junkcasters they wanna share and pop some pics up?

Go on, get your dirty little secrets out in public!

Liking that very much. If you tire of that neck and want to shift it, throw a PM my way.

    Will do.

Unlikely as I'm a 'chubby chaser' for fat necks! But never say never.

Need to sort out a 'proper' pickguard, but I don't own a router. But for a total 2nd hand bitsa it plays really well and sounds great. In fact A/B'd against my Kotzen Tele and there isn't anything in it. Both kick out some serious punch and still retain that Tele twang. So a good days tinkering and I'm happy with the outcome.

Nice guitar. Maybe put a nasty fuzz or boost on the 'switch of nothingness'?

Not a million miles away from my 'Jellycaster' (originally a 'Cruiser by Crafter' picked up for £25 at CashConverters) ...

What about a boost and a fuzz linked to the 3 way and switch set-up as off  / boost / fuzz...

The switch is a coil tap.

The old 5 way is wired to 'nothing' and is purely aesthetic.

Now at some point I'll get someone to make a 'proper' pick guard. Should I leave it black or go for something else?

    Switch of nothingness.. Sounds awesome!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    Do it!

Its good fun, plus I kind of like making non-standard guitars as it allows you a bit more 'artistic license' with what you do configuration wise. Plus, I do like rat guitars where its all about a attitude and not about being vintage correct or perfect. Makes it fun to build and hopefully to play as well.

I really like the Joe Guitars that Tyler make, but they are pretty posh and not cheap! But they look really cool.
